Waiting for Spring

Scott is proving himself a fine beginning string student. See: fork "bow" above left, chopstick "bow" above right. He probably thinks it sounds just as good as when mom and dad play... what's the difference, anyway?

His latest "who taught you THAT?!" phrase came the day after Easter: he had picked up an open plastic egg with the two halves still linked together. He put the egg up to his chest, looked down, looked up at me, looked down again, then exclaimed, "Boobs! Mom! I got boobs!"

Scott has officially entered the drama stage of toddler-hood. Sunday he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror mid-cry and couldn't take his eyes off of himself for a full 10 minutes, contorting his face every which way. Then today I had told him to stay in his room until he had calmed down...20 minutes later and lots of sing-songy cries later he decided he was done.

So, the picture at left is outdated: we had our baby early! April fool's. Don't I wish that were true. My belly is still growing, the little guy's still kicking like crazy, trying harder and harder every day to come out through my belly button or a hole he's trying to make just below my right rib. Scott thinks I'm sick (he says "Mommy tummy hurt, go doctor" every time we go to a prenatal check-up) and still insists that his baby brother is in his belly. Note the determination on his face at left. Looks like he's going to be just as stubborn as his mom. We'll keep you posted on the status of the baby. As of today, I'm still measuring right on, and we're expecting the little guy on or around May 16th.

We're still longing for Spring to come. This morning we woke up to a dusting of snow and more cold, cold temperatures. Jeremy has decided we've more than earned our next winter in Vegas and AZ. We can't wait.
